A Magical, Old Eco Farmhouse in the Mountains of Spain

La Donaira is a luxury eco-retreat, organic farm, and equestrian center with over 50 beautiful Lusitano horses. The 9-bedroom farmhouse has a rustic country aesthetic. Each room is different. You’ll find original stone walls and copper bathtubs, white stucco interiors, and exposed beam ceilings.

The farmhouse is located on over 1700 acres of nature. There is an organic farm and vegetable garden, and a medicinal garden with over 350 plant species. La Donaira produces its own biodynamic wine, extra virgin olive oil, honey, and almond milk. Eggs come from the property’s free-ranging chickens.

This connection to the earth, sustainable farming, and luxury tied to balance shows in every element. Stays are all-inclusive– the chef prepares daily menus to your food preferences. 70% of cooking is vegetarian and guests can connect to nature through horseback riding, bee sound meditation, and swimming in the spring water infinity pool. Visit the spa, with its wood-fired sauna and ice fountain, for a lavender and brown sugar scrub or a facial by Spanish favorite Natura Bissé. Yoga is also available daily.

The place runs its own biodynamic farm and takes extensive action to preserve local biodiversity. Only eco-friendly products are used.

The food is sourced almost entirely from its own organic farm. The talented chefs create your own individual menu depending on your preferences. Biodynamic wine is included.

The property, which sits in an old farmhouse is restored with natural materials. Sheets and fabrics are made of organic materials while a lot of the furniture is vintage finds from all over the world.

The place is single-use plastic free., including in-room bottles. Waste is separated and recycled, or composted. The old furniture is carefully refurbished and the hotel uses recycled or upcycled materials. Products are bought locally, in bulk, and in large dispensers.

Water consumption is tracked consciously. Mountain water provides the hotel with water for the pool which is filtered with salt only. Rainwater is being collected and used for irrigation.
